I have a six knob LANEY AOR Pro-Tube 50 watt head, approximately 1984. I really love the tone of this amp, but at lower volumes, several issues happen once I
take the MV past 4. First, a very signifcant amount of hum and noise appears with MV past 4. The repsonsivness to the pick dynamics is not as dynamic as it
about 4 on the MV, it just seems that this amp is at its best at 4 on MV, but being in a more or less heavy style of playing I need obviously more. Also, I was
told by the previous owner I've been told that cap's values have been changed to give more headroom but I think it took off a lot of the gain on tap
this 4 ECC83s pre-amp has. I love the cleans of the Low Sensitivity channel (non-aor) but the amp is not channel switchble. I love the general voicing of the
amp, I would like to get rid of all the noise/hum at higher gain settings, I would like to get more pick responsivness at high volumes, to about double the
amount of gain on tap, and to be able to channel switch between the channels as long as the switch option does not effect the current voicning of the amp. Are
the current standard vodoo mods do some or all of these aspects? Thanks.
